Rock Flour

We learned that this awesome turquoise blue water is produced by rock rubbing together and dumping in the lakes by creeks and rivers.  

We've had an amazing two couple of days.  I would love to stay in this park for weeks and soak it all in but who can afford it? We've discovered even camping is expensive.  We're staying at Moraine Lake.  We canoed the whole lake.  I'm recovering from my Sulphur Mountain hike yesterday.  We first went to Lake Louise but were discouraged by the million other visitors there today.  

Are We There Yet?

We left Missoula this morning in hopes of getting to Banff.  Yeah right!  I said by 5:30pm we'll start looking for a campground.  By 5:30pm I said what hotels are available within 30" from here?  

Cody found one in my price range with 2 beds.  I'll take it!! 

We are in Radium Hot Springs but it looks like we're in Leavenworth.  Internet is such a powerful map but I still refer to my paper one I brought.  I've scouted out some campgrounds we can possibly inhabit tomorrow.  I'm calling it "base camp".

Hiawatha

Someone gave me the idea to check out the Hiawatha trail and WOW, it's amazing.  We started at the East Portal and first tunnel is 8700 feet long.  Thank goodness Cody had charged his bike light.  There are 9 tunnels and I think 7 tresses to cross, and it's all downhill, nice easy peddling.  So much fun!  Thank to whoever recommended this gem!
